THE ARTIST. With a high horizon, the foreground dominates this oil painting, creating a sense of a vast expanse of poppies. Although this subject was explored by Claude Monet (1840–1926) and Auguste Renoir (1841–1919), stylistically it is extremely different from Impressionism.
