My First ABC Dictionary My First ABC Dictionary is a colourful and engaging early learner’s title that introduces children aged 3–4 to the features of a dictionary. My First ABC Dictionary is designed to help develop a child’s familiarity with letter shapes and simple words at an early age. Its clear and friendly presentation, supporting and giving confidence to children who are beginning to read and write in English, is an ideal learning tool. Help your child to become familiar with all the letters of the alphabet – and some key words that begin with those letters – by seeing the letter shapes, reading the key words, listening to the examples, and matching words to pictures. Each page is clearly laid out with distinctive features: section letters in a large, bold, colourful typeface in upper case and lower case, initial letters of headwords highlighted in red, alphabet down the side of each page, colour illustrations next to each definition, key words highlighted in bold in each example. The words chosen for this dictionary are those made up of simple sounds and those that will already be familiar to children from their everyday experiences.
